Within the Department of Biocide and Medical Ecology, in accordance with the goals and needs of development, the Laboratory for Molecular Diagnostics is being prepared, based on various techniques based on PCR. A highly specific and sensitive PCR method is preceded by a sample preparation and processing process, followed by manual or automatic isolation of genomic DNA / RNA via commercial kits.
It is equipped with several modern Real Time-PCR devices as well as conventional (RT-PCR, classic and “nested”), modern accessories, suitable software and high quality reagents.
The PCR method has a number of advantages, which set it apart from other methods. Some of them are the speed of execution and high sensitivity of the obtained results, the process itself is automated, which minimizes errors caused by human factors and increases the reliability in the identification of various bacteria, viruses and other microorganisms.
The detection of bacteria, viruses and parasites in samples of various materials of animal and human origin is based on this method.
Bacteria
–Borrelia Burgdorferi
–Anaplasma spp.
–Ehrlichia chaffeensis
–Leptospira interrogans
Viruses
–West Nile Virus
–Tick-borne encephalitis
–SARS-CoV-2 virus
Parasites
–Plasmodium vivax
