VISION OF THE INSTITUTE OF BIOCIDES AND MEDICAL ECOLOGY
The Institute for Biocides and Medical Ecology will become an elite, reference health institution, which, in addition to previous activities in the field of preventive health protection of the population from infectious diseases, also develops scientific research covering the current field of medical ecology, respects principles, sets criteria and develops doctrines.
In its rich history, the Institute for Biocides and Medical Ecology and its legal predecessors have contributed to the control of a large number of epidemics, including the smallpox epidemic in 1972.
In recent times, the teams of the Institute have been engaged in interventions according to epidemiological indications, on the appearance and reporting of the disease, or the existence of suspicion of viral hemorrhagic fever, anthrax, hepatitis A, etc.
The Institute is the initiator and creator of program activities related to the control of vectors – carriers of infectious diseases in the territory of the city of Belgrade and the Republic of Serbia. Through planned programs, such as habitat monitoring, migration numbers, health status, records of healthy and infected habitats on an annual basis, with possible analysis from previous periods, we project an even greater contribution to the field of medical ecology.
Population education programs on human health and environmental health, mutual influences and dependence, give a more practical and positive approach to every element of the environment in which we live and raise awareness that negative human influences disturb the balance in the environment in the short term – causing great damage visible in over time and in the long run – by accumulating influences on the genetic structure.
Tradition also means responsibility, and improving responsibility in the field of preventive protection of the population and developing programs in the field of medical ecology are our obligation and the foundation of our vision.
Continuous quality improvement requires equal engagement of all stakeholders: service users, the Institute for Biocides and Medical Ecology as service providers, financiers and decision makers at all levels.
Constant monitoring and introduction of a culture of quality leads to the reduction of mistakes: from ignorance, lack of skills, negligence, insufficient motivation and carelessness. It enables the achievement of an adequate response to the requirements and expectations of the user: minimal risk to his health with maximum benefit as well as obtaining measurable results. From the perspective of financing health care, and within the part that refers to the Institute for Biocides, that is a way to improve the efficiency of the health care system.
It will provide quality to the preventive services provided by the Institute for Biocides and Medical Ecology as a result of the rational use of existing resources and the quantitative scope of employment of existing ones). This would identify and prevent adverse events that are the cumulative result of a number of causes, and may be the consequences of individual failures.
The Institute for Biocides and Medical Ecology provides services in accordance with the definition of health care quality: “quality health care is one that enables the organization of resources to meet the health needs of users for prevention and treatment, in a safe way, without unnecessary losses and at a high level requests. “
